Pauline as Principal of ICOM (1990 - 2008)

She travelled to China in 1984, 1990 and 1992 where she did additional training at Colleges of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai to enhance her practice. She became Principal of ICOM in 1990 and immediately made the course a 4 year training as she was acutely aware of the lack of confidence in practice after only 3 years training. In her position as Principal of ICOM, she was actively involved with the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board (BAAB), which has been established to accredit responsible colleges of Oriental Medicine and to set and monitor the standards by which all practitioners will be evaluated. She was for a short time the Chair of the BAAB.

Under her guidance the College became accredited for the first time in 1995 and continued to achieve this under her leadership. At the same time the College was validated by the University of Brighton as a Partner College in 1997 and the students received a B.Sc.(Hons) Degree in Oriental Medicine-Acupuncture.
